Les Ateliers des Arques
Les Ateliers des Arques is a project combining contemporary art and the rural world. Since it was founded in 1988, Les Ateliers des Arques’s art residency has been the setting for numerous projects.
Based in the Bouriane area of the Lot and created alongside the Zadkine museum, the association’s aim is to welcome, support and accompany the most contemporary work, by providing artists with logistical, technical and financial resources to encourage their research in the fine arts.
The association also organises an exhibition in the autumn which showcases public collections of contemporary art from the Occitanie area. Throughout the year, the association runs an artistic and cultural education programme which contributes to the vitality of the area.

SELECTION PROCESS
Each year, the association chooses an external artistic director to whom it entrusts the task of proposing a research-creation residency project, inviting artists of their choice and proposing an exhibition at the end of the residency.
A residency and exhibition contract is drawn up for each curator and resident. The works created remain the property of their creator; they are not intended to remain on site.
CONSIDERATION FOR RESIDENTS' FAMILY LIFE
Depending on the residency schedule, families can be hosted. This is to be discussed with the association once the artist has been invited or selected.
Children must be supervised by an additional adult in order for residents to take full advantage of the opportunity and concentrate on their work.
Additional funding (for accommodation and utilities) is provided and varies depending on the length of the stay. The Ateliers des Arques team can help put residents in touch with relevant local professionals.
RESIDENTS' COMMITMENTS
We ask that artists:
- present their artistic approach at the evening launch of the residency,
- open their studios to a dedicated group event organised midway through the residency,
- take part in two meetings, each lasting 30 minutes, with selected groups, accompanied by the visitor experience manager
