Les Ateliers du Plessix‑Madeuc

The french association « Les Ateliers du Plessix-Madeuc » has been implementing programmes of artist residencies and dissemination of works in Brittany since 2010. In 2020 the association moves to Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer.

The aim of this organisation is to support young painters or draughtsmen by giving them access to a studio, an accommodation and give them art stuff to develop their work. At the end of their residency, the work carried out during the periode is exhibited.Many meeting with public are organized to promote art in Brittany like conferences, open days, exhibitions, meeting with the artists.

Residency sessions last three months. There are three sessions, from January to March, April to June and October to december. During summer, artistic residency lats six weeks.

SeLECTION process

Two residency sessions are open of a call to candidacy wich is diffuse twice a year. Artists are chosen by a jury composed of members of the association choose the artists. Summer residency is by invitations.


— Be present during the time of their residence
— Participate to the actions with the public
— Present the work done during an exhibition at the end of the residency
— Leave a work produced in residence on desposit for a period of five years. The workdesposited may be exhibitied by the association at exhibitions in the territory inorder to make artistic pratices visible and accessible.

— Open doors in the studios,
— Meeting around artisitc pratices : meeting with the public and experimentation via artistic pratice workshops,
— Conference,
— Exhibition at the end of the residency
