voyons voir art contemporain et territoire

voyons voir art contemporain et territoire is an art residency programme in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Visual artists are invited to work in an environment which is very much linked to its historical, architectural and living heritage (the knowledge of which is possessed by a company specific to our area). Having no fixed premises itself, Voyons voir works in partnership with companies, studios, factories, regional museums, other organisations and so on, who agree to host artists in residence for several weeks at a time. A vast programme of artistic and cultural education events runs alongside each of our initiatives throughout the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.

Every year, we organise around fifteen projects (research and production residencies, artistic events, exhibitions, etc.). We set up art residencies in work settings linked to the industrial and architectural heritage of the area. We also support emerging artists through targeted events and organise a residency programme aimed at young graduates of art schools in Toulon, Marseille and Aix-en-Provence.
This residency runs concurrently with a curatorial residency that we have been organising since 2016. We regularly work with other cultural and artistic organisations in the area and take part in artistic events in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) region, such as the “Printemps de l'art contemporain”, the Aix-en-Provence Biennial and the European Heritage Days.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Artists receive a residency grant, free accommodation and a workspace at each site and can rely on technical and logistical support from the organisation. The residency grant awarded to each artist generally ranges from €2,000 to €6,000 and varies, depending on the residency project. Each residency includes a critical text and professional photographs.

DURATION

Residencies last between five and seven weeks which can be spread across a period of time.

SELECTION PROCESS

Around fifteen emerging or established French or foreign (French-speaking) artists are selected by a jury of professionals on the basis of an application or an invitation, both of which are followed by the presentation of a preliminary project. Artists are selected on the basis of the quality of their artistic approach and their ability to take on and interact with the different sites.

CONSIDERATION FOR RESIDENTS' FAMILY LIFE

Each of our residency projects is different and we adapt as much as possible to the hosted artists, in terms of duration, dates and accommodation. Residencies are adapted to each individual’s needs.
